Analysis: The 21-year-old has been one bright spot for the slumping Kings, as he's now scored in three of his last six games and has five points in his past seven. Kempe is now on pace for 26 goals, not too shabby for someone playing their first full NHL season.

Analysis: Quick isn't getting much offensive support during his current four-game losing streak, though he hasn't really helped his cause either by surrendering 14 goals during the skid. The usually reliable netminder hasn't been in top form for some time now, having compiled a 4-7-1 record with a 2.68 GAA and a .912 save percentage over his last 12 starts.

Sidney Crosby had an assist in 22:05 of ice time in the Penguins' 3-1 win over the Kings on Thursday. He took one shot and had a plus-minus of -1 for the game. Crosby now has 33 assists on the season.

Analysis: The Penguins have now won five of six, and it's not surprising that Crosby has played a big role in that surge with three goals and 11 assists and at least one point in each of those contests. Much of that damage has come on the power play, where he's dished out seven assists along with one goal.
1/19/2018 Evgeni Malkin, Pit, C
Evgeni Malkin tallied one goal and one assist in 20:45 of ice time in the Penguins' 3-1 win over the Kings on Thursday. He took two shots and had a plus-minus of +2 for the game. Malkin now has 21 goals and 28 assists on the season.

Analysis: Malkin has been on a roll for a month now, amassing 12 goals and 21 points in 15 games since Dec. 16. More recently, the six-time All-Star has racked up seven goals and four assists to help the surging Penguins win five of their last six contests.
1/19/2018 Casey DeSmith, Pit, G
Casey DeSmith stopped 28 of 29 shots in the Penguins' 3-1 win over the Kings on Thursday. The victory pushed him to 1-1-0 on the season with a 2.14 GAA and .906 save percentage.

Analysis: Making his NHL starting debut, DeSmith outshined Jonathan Quick to pick up his first career victory. The 26-year-old isn't a prospect anymore, however, and his time with the Penguins figures to be brief with Matt Murray set to return to the team soon.
1/19/2018 Patric Hornqvist, Pit, RW
Patric Hornqvist scored two goals in 18:50 of ice time in the Penguins' 3-1 win over the Kings on Thursday. He took four shots and had a plus-minus of +2 for the game. Hornqvist now has 15 goals on the season.

Analysis: Hornqvist had scored just twice over his previous 17 games before delivering his first multi-goal performance of the season. The veteran Swede can still be a force on the power play in his 10th NHL campaign, as he's now tied for sixth in the league with eight man-advantage goals after getting one Thursday.
1/19/2018 Steven Stamkos, TB, C
Steven Stamkos had an assist in 16:30 of ice time in the Lightning's 4-1 loss to the Golden Knights on Thursday. He took three shots and had a plus-minus of -3 for the game. Stamkos now has 36 assists on the season.

Analysis: The Tampa captain has still yet to score in 2018, going a season-high seven straight games without a goal to begin January. Stamkos has managed four assists during that drought, though it's becoming more evident he may have trouble duplicating his terrific start to this 2017-18 campaign.
